At the same time, elite sports continue to enjoy a high profile in the community. Therefore, the need for qualified specialists in the field of sports and health has never been greater. To meet the standards of the sports and fitness industry in this country, you must have thorough understanding of the relationship between sports and health, as well as solid knowledge of sports and business policies.
Qualifications in sports and health management are becoming highly sought after in the UK job market. Offered through the Institute for Sports Studies, the three-year bachelor’s programme Sports, Health and Management prepares students very well for rewarding careers as sports professionals.
The programme is taught entirely in English. Its curriculum is designed to help students develop strong skills in the following areas:
- Managing Lifestyle in organizations and society
- Healthy Enhancing Physical Activity
- Changing Behaviour
- Policy & Entrepreneurship
During their studies, students will also be able to get a personal coach and receive training with excellent facilities to gain practical experience.
Especially, the course offers room for both national and international internships.
Applicants are expected to have obtained 3 A-levels or equivalent qualifications.
Applicants will also be invited to a 'Matching Day' after their registration. Participation is mandatory. The Matching Day consists of:
- Motivational letter
- Case assignment
- Personal presentation (Pitch)
- Sports assessment (interaction with others within a sports setting)
After receiving feedback about the results of the matching day, you will be asked to take part in the Sport Medical Fitness Test.
Students who have finished the Sports, Health and Management programme have a large range of career options. Since the programme focuses on a wide perspective in term of subjects concerning sport, health and management, students can expect to find or create jobs within this wide area. Possible jobs will focus on training and coaching, policy, management, consultancy, entrepreneurship, life style coaching, and healthy ageing.
