HAN University of Applied Sciences (Hogeschool van Arnhem en Nijmegen) is one of the largest providers of education in The Netherlands, with a student population of over 31,000. Each year as many as 3,000 international students from more than 70 countries come to HAN Arnhem and HAN Nijmegen to study engineering and business at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

British students particularly benefit from 7 Bachelors and 4 Masters programmes taught entirely in English at the University.

HAN University of Applied Sciences has an extensive network of nearly 300 partner universities all over the world where our students can spend one semester on the basis of exchange. In its most recent publication (2015), Elsevier magazine ranked HAN University of Applied Sciences as 2nd best in the category large-sized universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. Several courses offered at HAN are ranked in the top 10 of all Dutch universities of applied sciences. The results are based on the National Student Survey, which gathers the opinions of about 200,000 students on their lecturers, facilities, timetables and more.

HAN’s Masters courses Control Systems Engineering and Molecular Life Sciences received the highest rating for Masters courses in the Netherlands, according to the ‘Keuzegids Masters 2015’, an annual study guide that provides an independent comparison between courses in higher education in the Netherlands.

Campus

HAN University of Applied Sciences has a beautiful campus spread over the two cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen, with modern buildings and lots of student facilities. Both cities have a variety of attractions to offer; from fashion to history, from museums to pubs, and from concert halls to nightclubs.

Infrastructure:

  • In five study centres, two in Arnhem and three in Nijmegen, students can research written and digital sources in a peaceful and quiet setting.
  • The HAN account gives students access to a variety of ICT facilities, including free wireless internet.
  • All faculty buildings have cafeterias and bars on the premises where students can eat warm meals throughout the day or enjoy a drink after classes.

Teaching facilities:

  • All classrooms are equipped with computers and video projectors (beamers).
  • Small classrooms of max. 30 students per group.
  • Experienced lecturers with professional and international backgrounds.
  • Fully equipped bio – laboratories and engineering laboratories.

Student guidance:

  • Study career coaches monitor the study progress and help each student find their way at the HAN.
  • Study abroad coordinators supervise the students on their semester abroad at a partner university.

Top English-taught degrees in Business and Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering and Arnhem Business School, two renowned institutes within HAN University of Applied Sciences, teach in English.
