Archaeology
The history of societies becomes all the more interesting if you can make it tangible. In achieving this, Archaeology is an indispensable tool with which an archaeologist brings the past back to life. As an archaeologist, you reconstruct how people used to live and contribute to a better understanding of history. You study traces and objects found in the earth, from temples to food waste.
Archaeology is a broad and versatile discipline. During your studies you learn much about ancient cultures and archaeological research methods, but the studies also require some serious action. Excavating, for instance, is an essential part of the work.
A challenging programme in which you are trained to reconstruct the past through the study of archaeological material. Practical courses and excavation are an essential part of the programme, and in many courses you are actually participating in current research of Leiden's teaching staff.
