Course Description
"This Masters degree course is encouraging students to think outside the box, to conceive wild ideas. Students are looking further, seeing more of the bigger picture. New knowledge keeps the whole organizations fresh." – Maarten Witvliet, a project leader at Biosciences Center Boxmeer, MSD Animal Health.
The Master's course in Molecular Life Sciences is tailored to the needs of laboratory technicians: professionals in the dynamic and innovative field of molecular life sciences. The course focuses on the use of essential research techniques in the development of biotechnological products such as vaccines, drugs, diagnostic tests, biofuels and enzymes. What make this course unique is its focus on how to translate research into actual products.
The knowledge and skills taught in the course are reinforced on a regular basis by interaction with professionals from the field. This innovative and practice-oriented course (24-30 months) will prepare our students to use the acquired skills in their current or future job.
Entry requirements
Applicants for this course need a Bachelor of Applied Sciences, Bachelor of Science or a Masters degree in molecular life sciences, biochemistry, biotechnology, molecular biology or a related field. At least one year of practical experience in a molecular, cell biology or biochemistry laboratory setting at post-bachelor level is also expected. Alternatively, students can demonstrate in a selection procedure that their motivation, scientific knowledge and skills, and project experience compensate for the missing work experience.
Career Prospects
The graduates titled Master of Science will be able to execute short to medium-length projects as a goal-oriented and interdisciplinary professional, making them employable as a project leaders or lab managers in the biotech industry, in pharmaceutical companies, hospitals or research institutions.
