The digital culture we are living in is very dynamic. But which changes occur when our lives increasingly take place online and we become more and more citizens of the world. In this new program you will study the ever-changing role of art, culture, and online media in the society. You will observe these current developments in the broad perspective of the Netherlands and the world around us.

Key courses
Online Culture: Art, Media and Society is a three-year Bachelor’s degree program. The first year is characterized by a number of introductory courses about the impact of digitization on the globalizing world in which we live. After the first introductory year, you will deepen your knowledge in the second and third years. You will spend the entire second year building expertise in terms of cultural science. In the second year, much attention is also paid to academic language skills, research skills, and career orientation. In the third year of the Bachelor’s program you will further specialize. You will self-direct your future careers as a cultural scientist by choosing one of three specializations within the program: Entrepreneurship, Education or Research.

Within the program you can choose to specialize in:
- Digital Media
- Global Communication
Within the specialization track Digital Media you will study not only what digital media are and how they work, but also how digitization has created new cultural products and art forms, as well asl new ways to experience the world.
Within the specialization track Global Communication you will learn about the effects of increased mobility and the diversity that goes hand in hand with it. You will also study the latest developments in international communications. How does this change society and the way we communicate?
After your Bachelor’s program
Online Culture: Art, Media and Society prepares you for a successful career within the online and offline media sector, or in cultural organizations, international companies, government or education. It will prepare you well for a wide range of Master’s programmes, either at Tilburg University or elsewhere.
