No one seems to be surprised these days if you say you work in Barcelona or are stationed in Paris. Because of increasing international trade and worldwide relations, there is a growing demand for young internationally oriented managers. You could be one of them!
You look beyond borders and are interested in economics, marketing and business. You take an interest in international businesses, how they are organized and how they can improve. The study program is fully taught in English and many fellow students come from abroad. Lecturers have extensive international work experience and use real business cases in the classroom. If you are independent, self-motivated and open-minded to other cultures IBMS will prepare you for an international career.
Personal guidance
Personal guidance is a very important part of this programme. Every student is assigned a coach, who will work with them on their career development.

Since 2010, the International Business programme at Avans has been in the top 3 of national rankings such as HBO Keuzegids. The programme also received accreditation from national and international organisations.
Curriculum overview
In the first year, you will acquire basic knowledge of key areas in business studies, including marketing, finance and management.
The second year is about building in-depth knowledge. You will take advanced classes in marketing, project management, corporate culture, management and organisation, and financial decision-making.
The third-year primarily deals with International Business Operations, focusing on economic, legal, financial and management processes.
In your final year, you will learn how to approach marketing, finance, management and human resource management from a strategic perspective.
The International Business programme gives you the opportunity to personalise your degree by taking elective courses. They enable you to become a specialist in a geographical region or technical area.
Practical experience
Avans is a university of applied sciences. That's why you will gain work experience alongside with rigorous academic training.
In the second year, you will undertake a 20-week work placement at an assistant level with an international organisation.
In the fourth year, you will complete your graduation assignment in an organisation. This assignment requires you to look for possible solutions to a specific problem facing this organisation.
In addition to work placements, you will also be working on real business cases and complete projects with your classmates.
Entry requirements
To apply to this programme, you will need 3 A Levels. Applicants with BTECs in relevant subjects will also be considered.
