You enjoy English at school and love language in general, but particularly the English language. You don't have to be brilliant at English, but you must be highly motivated to learn how you can master it as well as be interested in its history and culture. You love reading and want to be able to place literary works in their historical context.

The English Language and Culture at the University of Groningen has been named "Top-Rated Programme" by Keuzegids.
The programme examines English Language texts across the entire range of genres and modes of writing while placing a strong emphasis on the cultural context of literary production.
You will be able to explore key language issues from various perspectives and trace the rise of English in order to fully understand its role as a global language today.
You can choose between three tracks: Pre-modern Literature and Culture, Modern Literature and Culture and English Linguistics.
How to apply
The minimum entry requirements for this programme is three A-levels.
